Editorial Guidelines
At The Clever Everyday, we write about the kinds of decisions that come up in ordinary life—how to keep things clean and organized without making it a full-time project, how to make the kitchen work better, how to approach everyday wellness, what actually earns a place in your wardrobe, and which products are worth bringing home.
We know you may spend your time, money, or energy based on something you read here, and we don’t take that lightly. So we try to be clear about what we know, how we reached a conclusion, where a recommendation comes from, and when there are limits to what we can confidently say.
These Editorial Guidelines explain how we research our content, choose sources, review products, handle wellness topics, and correct our work when something needs updating.
Our Editorial Approach
We create content for real life.
Our goal is to answer useful questions, solve everyday problems, offer realistic inspiration, and help readers understand their options before making a purchase.
Search traffic helps readers discover our work, and affiliate revenue helps support our website, but neither replaces honest editorial judgment. We do not encourage readers to buy products they do not need, and we do not believe that a better home or lifestyle requires perfection or complicated systems.
How We Create Content
Our topics often begin with everyday problems, reader questions, seasonal needs, and subjects people are actively trying to understand or solve.
Depending on the topic, we may review official guidance, manufacturer documentation, product specifications, retailer information, original sources, and other reliable references. We try to use the most relevant source for the claim being made rather than relying on a single type of source for everything.
We may use AI-assisted tools to help organize research, explore ideas, develop outlines, or improve readability. AI does not replace human editorial judgment. Content intended for publication is reviewed and edited by a member of our team for clarity, accuracy, usefulness, and consistency with our editorial standards.
We do not knowingly use AI—or any other tool—to invent sources, quotations, personal experiences, professional qualifications, test results, or product use that did not happen.
How We Handle Wellness Topics
Our wellness coverage focuses primarily on everyday habits, routines, comfort, and general lifestyle information.
We do not present general wellness content as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. When a topic involves medical claims, health conditions, treatment decisions, supplements, or other higher-risk questions, we use more cautious sourcing and may seek appropriately qualified expert review when the subject requires it.
Personal experience can add useful context, but it does not replace reliable evidence or professional medical guidance. If a subject falls outside what we can cover responsibly, we would rather be clear about that than pretend to have expertise we do not have.
How We Review and Recommend Products
Our product recommendations may come from first-hand use, structured research, product comparisons, or a combination of these methods.
When we say that we tested or personally used a product, that means a member of our team actually used or tested it. When we have not used a product ourselves, we do not present research-based evaluation as hands-on testing.
Depending on the product, we may consider design, materials, ease of use, maintenance, features, limitations, price, ongoing costs, availability, warranty, return policies, and suitability for different readers.
We also look for trade-offs. More features do not automatically mean better value, and a more expensive option is not automatically the better choice.
When we describe something as a strong or “best” choice, we aim to explain best for whom, best for what, and what limitations still matter.
Affiliate Relationships and Editorial Independence
Some pages on The Clever Everyday contain affiliate links. If you make a qualifying purchase through one of those links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate revenue helps support the research, writing, editing, and ongoing operation of the site. It does not determine which products we cover, what conclusions we reach, or whether we recommend something at all.
Sponsored content, gifted products, and paid partnerships are disclosed when applicable. Payment or a free product does not guarantee positive coverage, and brands do not get to buy a favorable recommendation.

Accuracy, Updates, and Corrections
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that our content is accurate at the time it is published.
Product specifications, prices, availability, retailer policies, and official guidance may change over time. We may update articles when important information changes, products become unavailable, better alternatives appear, or an error is identified.
If you believe something on The Clever Everyday is inaccurate, outdated, or unclear, please contact us. We welcome thoughtful feedback and review meaningful correction requests carefully.
